Blog 1301: Things We Learned At The Berlin Music Video Awards
Last week, the inaugural Berlin Music Video Awards were held in, funnily enough, Berlin. The Ray Mann Three’s music video ‘Sometimes’ was nominated in the Best Stop Motion / Animation category, and screened alongside the other finalists (among them: Justice, Alt-J, Modeselektor feat. Thom Yorke, Sigur Rós, Michael Nyman and Sébastien Tellier). While our video didn’t win, we did get to hang out and watch a lot of other people’s music videos, over hours and hours. Things We Learned At The Berlin Music Video Awards
Story is everything:
.
Effects are often best when they’re easy to miss:

.
Split-screen can still look cool:
.
Title cards with live action backgrounds look cool:
.
Stock images of landscapes turned duotone and upside-down look cool:
.
And finally: there are a lot of talented people making amazing things you will never see:
.
Congrats to all the winners – and thank YOU for voting x
