As an artist who is DIY by default, not by design or intent (if I had the resources or the good fortune to be able to employ more capable and talented people than myself to handle the business and art of this project, I totally would), perhaps my favourite image of The Sketches Project is the Fellini-esque video I managed to shoot with blessedly generous collaborator Daniela Rastlos. It’s one of the rare occasions where I’ve managed to get an idea out of my head and into the world more or less intact, and the good fortune to have found a collaborator with whom I created something I could never have done on my own.
This video is, simply, a pretty girl dancing barefoot in the woods to my song. What made Daniela’s contribution more brazen, however, was the fact that we shot the video in the “mild” Berlin winter – 0 degrees – with her robed in nothing more than a summer dress and a fierce commitment to my vision. Hope you enjoy the result as much as I do.
The Sketches album is out now on CD and iTunes.
