12 months later, 52 entries about 52 months in the life and art of The Ray Mann Three, and now we’ve come full-circle. As I prepare to visit Australia for The Ray Mann Three ‘Sketches So Far’ Tour, here’s a look back on: the ‘Farewell Australia’ shows from March 2011; my first audience collaboration; and the inspiration for The Sketches Project.
January 2010:
The Ray Mann Three was personally hand-picked by one of my biggest influences, The Reverend Al Green, to support him on his Australian tour. I got word of this a week before my solo tour with Tori Amos was due to begin only two months before it. And so began that summer.

In the same weekend, The Ray Mann Three played opening sets for Jamie Lidell and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. And then we released the first digital-only EP, ‘Smile’, and that led to even awesomer things…
